THE ANCIENT FAMILY AND TOWNSHIP

THE TUDOR PERIOD

During this century England was ruled over by the Tudors. King Henry VII was king at the start of the century and was followed by Henry VIII, Edward VI, Mary and Elizabeth.

Whilst the family history of the main line of the family is fairly certain it is towards the end of the century that the Bostocks of Bostock dies out for lack of a legitimate male heir. Several branches stemming from illegitimate and junior lines of the main family continued to live in and around the parish of Davenham and continue to the present day.

Numerous other branches of the main family had spread throughout Cheshire during the medieval period and continued well into the sixteenth century and later. It would be too tedious to evidence them on this site.

From Cheshire families bearing the Bostock name spread south to London and others into the counties of Shropshire, Staffordshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Berkshire and elsewhere

Much later families emigrated to America and Australia.
