THE PLANTAGENET PERIOD

This was a period of English History which witnessed the reigns of the three kings called Edward. It was during these times that England witnessed wars with Wales, Scotland and France. The century ended with the turbulent reign of Richard I.

Following the death of the last Norman Earl of Chester, the earldom passed to the Crown and the title was then bestowed upon the eldest son of the monarch who was also Prince of Wales - just as its today. The most famous of the Earls of Chester was Edward, Prince of Wales, son of king Edward III, and known to history as 'the Black Prince'.

Members of the Bostock family feature in all of these episodes. During this time the Bostock's immediate lords, the barons of Shipbrook, changed due to marriage and the Vernons were replaced by the St. Pierre family.
